Performs difficult advanced technical work planning, coordinating, supervising and participating in the design, construction management and inspection of subdivisions, commercial properties, and Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) projects, ensuring compliance with governmental agencies, preparing engineering communications, reports, and presentations, maintaining files and
records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Assistant City Engineer. Provides work direction and general guidance to assigned personnel within the division.
The ideal candidate will have comprehensive knowledge in development review,
stormwater and drainage design, civil engineering and project management. Must possess a proven track record of project development through execution on a wide variety of projects. They will have the ability to communicate effectively, collaborate and work in a team environment.
Performs difficult professional work administering and overseeing capital improvement programs and projects in support of the City public works department, developing and implementing goals and objectives for engineering and construction projects that are in compliance with policies and procedures, monitoring department budget and annual capital expenditures, maintaining files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Assistant City Engineer.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and an effective communicator with excellent project managerial skills. This position requires an energetic and results orientated individual with the ability to move multiple capital infrastructure projects forward simultaneously and be able to demonstrate a history of successful/completed capital projects. They should demonstrate knowledge of civil engineering principles and be able to work effectively with staff and the general public in a collaborative, team orientated working environment. Professional Engineering licensure is highly desired; however, not required to be successful in this recruitment.
CIVIL ENGINEER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree with coursework in civil engineering or related field and extensive experience in civil engineering work, including considerable supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer (PE) and ability to obtain Arizona PE licensure within six (6) months of hire.
PROJECT MANAGER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field and extensive experience in construction design, inspection and management engineering activities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
