Currently, there is one Civil Engineer II vacancy in the Transportation Planning & Programming (TPP) Division of Street Transportation Department. This position applies professional civil and transportation engineering knowledge and skills to a variety of projects for Street Transportation Department Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects including studies, design and review of horizontal and vertical roadway geometry. The incumbent would be required to work closely with outside agencies, neighboring municipalities, and private developers while providing guidance on roadway geometry and while proposing alternate solutions, whenever necessary. In addition to roadway geometry and applicable design standards, a thorough understanding of the Street Classification Map would be critical. Further, the incumbent would be responsible for designing and producing traffic-signal plans, and signing and striping plans, in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and City’s standards, as applicable.
JOB REQUIREMENTS TTP Division
One year of civil engineering experience and a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or
Two years of civil engineering experience and a related engineering degree.
All positions in the classification may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.
An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Includes the job requirements listed above, plus:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications is required.
Knowledge of roadway design principles, including traffic-signal, signing and striping design is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Includes the job requirements listed above, plus:
An Engineering-In-Training (EIT) certification, aptitude for great customer service, good, verbal and written communication, and project management skills are highly desirable.
Working knowledge of ArcGIS application and similar software applications is highly desirable.
