The Warner facility produces steel coil, flat-sheet coat & lithography products and services. Additionally, they produce an aluminum membrane easy-open end (EZO) for Ball’s Food & Aerosol Packaging division. The location, when fully staffed, will employ approximately 140 employees. Located in Canton, Ohio, approximately 60 miles south of Cleveland, the plant has been part of Ball Corporation since 2015. Canton is home to many well-known national landmarks including the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Primary Purpose of Position:
Manages the plant lithography production function as directed.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure work environment. This includes correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents, as required.
Responsible for maintaining compliance to company environmental policies and procedures including storage, transportation, use, and disposal.
Administers the direction and supervision of the plant production function as directed.
Accesses, and analyzes information from the computer system regarding safety, quality, production, etc.
Develops, reviews, masters, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
Establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence that will discourage third party interference or establishes and maintains an employee relations climate of trust and confidence with employees, which will promote achievement of plant and company goals.
Work with pressman and prepress to make sure lithography quality standards are met per company requirements and customer needs
Work with supplier to resolve material issues with steel, coating, and varnish
Lead improvement teams to resolve quality and production issues
Supports development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
Establishes and implements improvements for cost reduction, quality, and safety programs.
Directs and assists with developmental or experimental production activities.
Arranges and coordinates employee involvement in addressing problem areas of production equipment by utilizing problem-solving tools, skills, and statistical skills.
Establishes and implements predictive and corrective maintenance practices relating to production equipment.
Provides training to employees in proper preventive/predictive/corrective maintenance programs and procedures for the plant production equipment.
Manages production supervisors and oversees the training, performance, and development of all manufacturing personnel.
May perform periodic outside warehouse inspections and make suggestions in areas that would improve the shipping and storing procedures.
Formal Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Training / Experience (Green or Black Belt Certification Preferred)
Use Continuous Improvement methodologies and Formal Problem Solving to improve productivity performance (SPC, process capability, pareto analysis, fishbone, 5 Whys, SMED, DOE, 5S, KPI, , VSM and kaizen events, A3, 9 Step, 8D, etc.)
Must have demonstrated mechanical proficiency.
Printing and prepress background and hands on experience desired (Offset printing preferred, flat sheet experience a plus) - we can train you in lithography printing, if you have strong Lean/Continuous Improvement experience in the high-speed manufacturing environment.
Experience working in plant manufacturing three-piece steel food containers strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of the following areas: business and financial principles, legal practices, customer needs and expectations, product specifications and mechanics of the equipment, and MCO quality standards; generally accepted managerial practices and procedures; production principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures; company policies, procedures, and products.
Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
Must maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
Demonstrated results in improving operations significantly in a short time
Experience in Standard Work and Training
Ability to analyze downtime production data, look for trends, and make corrections to insure KPI metrics are met within the department
Ability to work with customers and prepress to deliver highest lithography quality
Requires a 4 year Engineering or Technical degree or equivalent experience.
Requires short-term and long-term domestic travel. (5% travel)
