The College of Engineering and Business invites applications for a nine-month, Visiting Assistant Professor in the new Biomedical Engineering (BME) program to begin August 2018. This position may be renewable annually pending yearly performance reviews. The successful candidate will be responsible for support of program development that encompasses lecture and lab design that take full advantage of the new BME laboratory recently supplied with state-of-the-art equipment. The successful candidate will have a key role in the program and teach courses such as 1) Biomechanics, 2) Motion Tracking, 3) Robotic integration for human machine interface such as rehabilitative, assistive, and haptic interfaces 4) Computational biomechanics, and other introductory and advanced program courses.
Candidates will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application. Ideally, candidates will have experience using course management systems for purposes of instruction and advising. To be considered, candidates must have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or related fields. Terminal degree must be completed prior to the beginning of the fall semester. Candidates must provide evidence of effective teaching and the potential for scholarship in the field of Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis on biomechanics or rehabilitation engineering. Experience with OpenSim software would be preferred. Candidates must be able to support and promote the University's inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.
