The ideal candidate for this position will have outstanding leadership skills as well as extensive experience in transportation and traffic engineering. As the manager of the City of Sacramento’s Traffic Operations Center (TOC), the ideal candidate will have experience managing and leading a diverse group of technical experts and coordinating with field staff responsible for operations and maintenance of the City’s Traffic Signal grid. A such, strong written and verbal communication skills are required. In addition to TOC management, responsibilities include implementing the City’s ITS master plan, managing multiple traffic signal operations/upgrade programs, and managing the day to day workload of TOC staff. The ideal candidate will be a big picture thinker capable of creating a culture of innovation in the TOC. Licensure as a California Traffic Engineer is not required, but is highly desirable.
