The Town of North Kingstown, RI seeks a qualified professional to be responsible for planning, coordinating, implementation and management of new construction, corrective and preventive maintenance activities, and projects associated with municipal and school department building systems, facilities, equipment and grounds, and all capital projects. Prepares bid specifications, reviews bids and makes recommendations for bid award; reviews cost estimates, pay requests, change orders; performs contract oversight, recommends annual update to Capital and Asset Protection Program.
Requirements include graduation from an accredited 4 year college or university with major course works in architecture, civil/structural engineering or related field. Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in construction; knowledge of applicable federal and state building codes and local laws, skill in long range planning and program implementation. Required to work outdoors in all weather conditions; nights and weekends as needed.

The North Kingstown Public Works Department has the following divisions with a total of 31 employees: Department of Public Works Administration is comprised of the Department Director, Facilities Project Manager, and Programs Coordinator. Division responsibilities include the overall operation of the DPW including policy and personnel decisions, purchasing, budgeting, research, supervision, record keeping, and customer service to residents.The Engineering Division is responsible for subdivision and land development review and inspection, highway and drainage improvement design, plat map updates, improving Town standards, computer aided design (CAD), bid specification preparation and project management and construction inspections, deed and title search, and customer service.Facilities and Grounds is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of all Town buildings, grounds, athletic facilities, Town Beach, play grounds, and parks.Highways is responsible for maintaining the Town's infrastructure (roads, dams, drainage, bridges), street sweeping, snow plowing, tree trimming and brush cutting, cleaning of catch basins, sign making, and other tasks that involve heavy and light equi...pment.The Sewer division maintains and operates the Town's wastewater collection that flows into the Quonset Development Park's system.
