This position is responsible for providing leadership on the pursuit, planning and development of traffic engineering assignments and projects throughout the Southeast, the Gulf Coast and State of Texas.
Traffic Modeling and Capacity Analysis using HCS, SYNCHRO, VISSIM, TRANSCAD and TRANSMODELER software for corridor analysis, interchange and intersection level of service and operational delay calculations.
Development of Interchange Justification / Interchange Modification (IJT/IMR) Reports for approval by FHWA.
Preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of traffic control plans, signing/pavement markings, and traffic signal plans for various highway and roadway planning and design projects.
Proposing changes to existing highways and bridge sites to improve traffic flow and safety or design traffic systems for new highway projects.
Providing assistance in approving drawings, quality control plans and safety recommendations to assure projects meet contract requirements.
Overseeing and managing staff to provide traffic engineering studies and designs efficiently and cost-effectively to obtain client acceptance.
Responsible for the design and planning of transportation/traffic systems and facilities for a variety of civil projects and proposes changes to existing roadways or devices to improve traffic flow and safety.
Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations; conducts research and maintains an awareness of new issues, methods, equipment, trends and advances in the profession. Attends meetings, workshops, seminars and training sessions as appropriate.
Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and provides oversight of the signal and signage disciplines on projects with focus on developing traffic-engineering assessments, resolving traffic requests and complaints, and recommending traffic improvement.
Prepares final design documents (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates) associated with traffic signal installations, signing and striping layout, and temporary traffic control/detour/staging plans.
Proactively communicate with municipal (City and County) and state DOTs, and FHWA on the implications and findings through the course of project work.
Educationand Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university,
Professional Engineering License (PE) is required with the ability to obtain PE License in multiple states including SC, NC, GA, VA, FL, AL, MS, TN and Texas.
Professional Traffic Operation Engineer (PTOE) certification highly desired.
Minimum 15 years of traffic engineering experience in heavy highway, bridge for federal, state and municipal levels. Specific Experience in SC, NC, & GA highly desired.
Experience with HCS, Synchro/Simtraffic, AutoCAD, AutoTURN, MicroStation, GuidSIGN, VISSIM, TransCAD and TransModeler software is required.
Strong computer skills including MS Office suite, Microsoft Project.
