Mississippi State University is accepting applications for one (1) tenure-track faculty position and one (1) nontenure track clinical faculty position in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) within the Bagley College of Engineering. It is anticipated that both positions will begin January 2020. The positions are expected to be filled at the assistant professor level, though exceptionally qualified candidates will be considered for higher academic rank. Candidates are sought with education and expertise related to one or more of the department’s educational and research areas. The individual should have demonstrated expertise and interest in more than one of the following areas: construction engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, geodetic engineering, materials engineering, structural engineering, transportation engineering, and water resources engineering. Successful candidates will have an earned B.S. and Ph.D., or all but dissertation, in an appropriate engineering discipline from a program accredited by EAC/ABET at the undergraduate or graduate level. Professional and academic experience is highly desirable. Candidates should have a potential for sustaining a vigorous externally-funded research program and a portfolio of graduate and undergraduate educational competencies. Preference will be given to candidates with a professional engineering license. The department currently has 13 faculty, one instructor, 23 adjunct faculty, 473 undergraduate students, and 105 graduate students. The department offers an EAC/ABET-accredited undergraduate program in civil engineering with an option for a concentration in environmental engineering and maintains a highly ranked, international, graduate distance-education program. Research and instruction at undergraduate and graduate levels are offered in construction, environmental, geotechnical, materials, structures, transportation, and water resources engineering fields.
