Position Overview This Post-Doctoral Researcher (PRD) position, located at Ohio State University, in the Aerospace and Aviation Research department, will perform sponsored work for NASA on key research to develop a 1 Megawatt machine which will be tested at the NASA Electric Aircraft Test bed facility (NEAT) in Northern Ohio. This position is responsible for interacting with industry and government agencies to uncover promising technology applications and consider necessary optimization studies which identify the benefits of Hybrid Electric Propulsion (fuel burn, CO2 reduction, and noise reduction) on these applications; works to define appropriate development and qualification programs in close collaboration with customers (industry, NASA, Air force, etc.) and the FAA, to bring the Hybrid Propulsion System to a state of readiness; establishes the development and manufacturing costs of systems; performs other duties as assigned by faculty advisor and NASA sponsor.
Additional information The PDRs will spend majority of the time working with research teams, located on campus in Columbus, Ohio. This position may require occasional travel around Ohio and to national/international conferences.
Performance Objectives Success in this role will require enthusiasm for mechanical and aerospace engineering, great communication skills, a desire and aptitude to learn quickly and continue to grow technically, as well as an appreciation for both fundamental and applied research.
Required: Doctoral Degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
