General knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering in order to perform the various job functions (design, construction support, design review, planning, etc.)
General knowledge of surveying as it applies to topographic maps and elevation studies.
General knowledge of hydraulics as it applies to sewer and water distribution systems design.
General knowledge of stress analysis, statics, strength, properties, uses of materials of engineering construction and design of structures of simple complexity as it applies to a wide variety of civil and structural related projects.
General knowledge of hydrology as it applies to site drainage, site grading and flood control.
General knowledge of engineering mathematics in order to perform the various job functions.
General knowledge of procedure and terminology in order to perform the various job functions.
Perform mapping and drafting to provide information and direction for a wide variety of civil related projects.
Prepare detailed plans and specifications to provide information and direction for a wide variety of civil related projects
Inspect construction projects to ensure quality control.
Analyze situations accurately to develop and adopt an effective course of action.
Use standard civil engineering instruments and equipment in order to perform a wide variety of functions required for the job.
Write, read, interpret, and analyze engineering reports, plans, and specifications to provide direction and information on a wide variety of civil projects.
Perform technical research work and make detailed analysis to provide direction, information on a wide variety of civil related projects.
Prepares and maintains various engineering records, reports, notes, data, etc. to provide direction, information and recommendations of a wide variety of civil projects.
Effectively apply interpersonal and communication techniques to transfer information and secure and maintain the respect and cooperation of others.
Analyze survey reports, maps, and other data to plan projects
Consider construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis
Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations
Provide cost estimates for materials, equipment, or labor to determine a project’s economic feasibility
