Exterior Trim Design and Release Engineer Job Responsibilities Your specific duties as a Exterior Trim Design and Release Engineer will include: - Lead the development of Exterior Trim commodities through financial target setting process, Studio Feasibility Checkpoints, Final Data Judgment, and product launch
- Coordinate and implement all the required actions to improve overall customer satisfaction as it relates to the product while maintaining an affordable business structure.
- Drive the Product Development process (Design, Development, Validation, and Launch) of exterior trim components, achieving compliance of requirements (Design Specifications, Design Rules, Regulatory), managing attributes (package, design feasibility, NVH, water management, craftsmanship) and delivery of financial and quality targets.
- Lead and resolve all part design related issues for all Tier 1 suppliers.
- Drive Material Cost Reduction actions to meet Business Plan objectives
Exterior Trim Design and Release Engineer Job Requirements As a Exterior Trim Design and Release Engineer you must represent our company well by being responsible, punctual and motivated to go above and beyond the call of duty. You must also be highly detail-oriented and organized with excellent analytic and problem-solving abilities. It is also important that you display excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to communicate clearly and express new ideas.
- Ability to balance objectives and resolve conflicts.
- Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and follow-up
- Demonstrated delivery of results.
- Experience in engineering of automotive plastics (either OEM or supplier)
- 2 years of experience in design and release of Exterior Trim components.
- Experience in following commodities preferred: badges, decklid / liftgate appliques, decklid / liftgate lower finish panels, running boards, box top moldings
- Detailed understanding of Exterior Trim systems, interfaces and common failure modes
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver exterior trim product on vehicle programs including system development through the Studio design process
- Experience working through the craftsmanship process, target setting, and benchmarking required
- Detailed understanding of Exterior Trim components including materials, manufacturing technologies, GD&T, and associated costs required.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex issues and effectively communicate to management.
- Knowledge of Teamcenter Engineering and CATIA v.5 preferred.
- Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or Equivalent).
- Education Preferred: Master's degree in Engineering / Science.
