Environmental Engineer/Specialist I/II

The qualified applicant is expected to demonstrate some or all of the following:

• B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering, environmental science, geology or a related degree in environmental or physical sciences
• EIT certification for engineer applicants is a plus
• 2+ years experience in consulting strongly preferred
• Basic to intermediate knowledge in engineering and environmental science consulting practices as they relate to: erosion and sediment control planning, stormwater design, wetland and waters permitting, site plan development, traffic control planning, NPDES permitting and construction compliance
• Virginia DEQ Certified Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Inspector or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire
• Experience in the preparation of Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permits for authorization from the US Army Corps of Engineers and state environmental agencies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge and familiarity of CADD and/or GIS
• Ability to work well in diverse groups of people and with minimal direct supervision
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote job site locations on a daily basis
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains (position is approximately 50% field work)
