City and Borough of Sitka is in search of a strong experienced, problem solver and customer service driven Engineer who can be self-directed, adaptable, and successfully operate under pressure using time and project management skills help. Under the direction of the Public Works Director the City Engineer with extensive leeway granted, the position will oversee engineering design, modification and implementation of capital projects and Engineering Operations. The nature of the work performed requires establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other Department and City employees, State and Federal officials, outside contractors/consultants and the public. The principal duties are performed in both a general office environment and in various work sites throughout the City and Borough. • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Engineering, or related field is required. • Minimum seven (7) years total experience civil engineering, engineering design and project management, preferably in the public sector with two years supervisory experience. • Five (5) years in Project Management experience. • Two (2) years in construction experience. • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be evaluated individually. • Strong success in managing the design and construction of municipal [public works projects. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills. • Self-motivated and self-directed. • Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
