Prairie Engineering is looking for a Structural Design Engineer to lead our structural department and to support the design and construction of commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings of all construction types across Prairie Engineering’s service base. The ideal candidate is a Level III or higher registered engineer in the structural discipline, who is also a self-motivated individual that can manage a project without oversight from proposal phase to construction administration.
Responsibilities
Coordinate structural design on multidiscipline project teams including architects, contractors, mechanical, electrical, piping/plumbing (MEP) professionals.
Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, along with the creation of justifying structural calculations.
Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgement.
Complete field work independently or with the design team.
Create construction documents with sufficient clarity to ensure the successful construction of our client’s projects.
Support preparation of design drawings, plans, sections, details, and schedules in Revit or AutoCAD.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Registered and in good standing as a Professional Engineer (PE) with active NCEES record and ability to acquire state PE license.
Minimum 5 years of experience in structural design of commercial, industrial, or manufacturing industries.
Knowledge of concrete, steel and masonry design codes, as well as local and national building codes required.
Familiarity with Revit Structural.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines.
Ability to work with a diverse team effectively and patiently to achieve the desired goal.
Detail-oriented and technical yet experienced enough to see the big picture.
Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.
Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion.
Self-directed, highly motivated self-starter with solid writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
