| Mississippi State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Research Professor in the Richard A. Rula School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) within the Bagley College of Engineering. It is anticipated that position will begin this fall 2021 semester. The successful candidate will work on cutting edge research projects sponsored by of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Mississippi Department of Transportation. Principal responsibilities include developing UAV operational and simulation models: UAS routing design model, route choice model and microscopic UAS simulation models, implementing the models in C++, testing, verifying and validating the models; the model should interface with NAS’s UTM models and FAA’s other models. Collect data and analyze UAS operational impact to maned aircraft through simulation. Other potential research includes traffic control on connected and automated vehicle for traffic safety and mobilities. Candidates are sought with demonstrated expertise and interest in more than one of the following research areas: UAS and aerospace traffic operations, optimization, and simulation, parallel, distributed and cloud computing, and artificial intelligence. A professional experience with programming (C++, or C) is required. Connected and Automated Vehicle related to traffic signal control systems, safety and mobilities. The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. and demonstrated expertise related to transportation engineering with degrees in civil, industrial, mechanical, aerospace, computer, or a related engineering area. Professional, research, and academic experience is highly desirable. After two to three years, candidates should have a potential for sustaining a vigorous externally-funded research program and a portfolio of graduate and undergraduate educational competencies.
