 General Responsibilities : 
 Under the direction of the Principal Engineer and/or Chief Engineer, the Senior Engineer will develop, implement and manage various projects related to civil and infrastructure systems on water works facilities and equipment, including sources of supply, filter plants, pumping stations, storage facilities, wells and reservoirs.&#xa0; Responsibilities will include capital project delivery from inception to completion, including preliminary conceptual development, detailed engineering design with support of external engineering consultants, construction cost estimation, procurement, construction administration, supervision and inspection, startup and commissioning, and project close-out documentation delivery, including as-built plans, O&#38;M manuals, and SOPs.&#xa0; Strong experience and expertise in project and construction management is required for this role. 
 Essential Job Functions : 
 Prepare preliminary, engineering, and detailed cost estimates. 
 Project budget development and cost tracking and expenditure forecasting. Track and report on project expenditures to ensure they are aligned with budget and prioritize projects based on available funding and risk assessment. 
 Manage several projects simultaneously ranging in scope from small to very large. 
 &#xa0;Prepare bid documents and coordinate procurement with Purchasing department.&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; &#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0;&#xa0; 
 Manage pipe condition assessment projects. 
 &#xa0; 
 &#xa0;Provide engineering support (on and off-site) during emergencies, including large main breaks, inclement weather, and drought and other emergencies. 
 Provide engineering support to Executive Department as needed. 
 Participate in master planning effort of existing systems and new acquisitions. 
 Prepare short-term and long-term capital improvement plans for new acquisitions and prepare valuations of systems based on due diligence site visits and condition assessment for the purpose of formulating bids for acquisitions. 
 Communicate regularly in written form (email, memoranda, reports, status updates, etc.) and verbally (group meetings, in-person and virtually, and internal and external presentations). 
 Assist Chief Engineer with the management, implementation and delivery of the capital program for BWWB. 
 Independently manage Capital projects along with other projects. 
 Facilitate and perform constructability reviews for projects designed internally or externally. 
 Work directly with the Operations group to understand their needs in meeting operational, compliance, and health &#38; safety goals. 
 &#xa0; Coordinate with Chief Engineer to assure the focus of capital project planning meets medium and long- term needs of the operations. 
 &#xa0;Manage the design (either internal or external) and construction of small and large projects. 
 &#xa0;Develop reports to be provided to regulators, internal or external customers as required. 
 Apply for permits through city, county, state and regulatory agencies (i.e. ADEM); visit and inspect work sites. 
 Perform erosion control inspections on project sites and ensure compliance with guidelines and permitting agencies. 
 Ability to read and decipher regulations and industry codes, e.g. AWWA, OSHA, ASTM and ANSI, and explain requirements of same to others. 
 &#xa0; 
 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
 Education: 
 Bachelor&#39;s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering 
 Master&#39;s Degree in engineering/MBA is preferred 
 &#xa0; Experience: 
 Eight years of related engineering design, construction, and project management experience. 
 &#xa0; Broad knowledge of multiple processes and/or engineering disciplines, augmented with good experience and seasoning, to the point where he/she can address complex projects or address complex challenges, such as leading a response to an emergency. Must be able to propose capital projects or identify other work that will benefit BWWB and its customers, based on their expertise in one or more areas. 
 Experience in managing and adhering to project budgets and schedules. 
 Experience in civil construction and inspection in areas such as concrete, steel, soils, paints and coatings, piping, etc. 
 Excellent analytical, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills. 
 Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. 
 Design and Hydraulic Modeling background is preferred. 
 Broad Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred. 
 AutoCAD, and ESRI/GIS experience is preferred.

 Supervision: 
 Project Manager and Team Lead experience 
 &#xa0; Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :&#xa0; 
 Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) is required. 
 Professional Engineer (PE) License in State of AL is preferred, or the ability to obtain such by reciprocity in the State of Alabama within 6 months. 
 Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus. 
 Water Operator Licenses are a plus. 
 Valid Alabama Driver License

								<description>Auburn, Alabama,  Job Description Summary: The McWhorter School of Building Science at Auburn University seeks applications for a full-time, Visiting Research professor (Assistant/Associate) primarily focused on research of mass timber and cross laminated timber (CLT) construction, with a secondary focus on prefabrication and off-site construction systems and techniques. The appointment is for a research position that would include a limited teaching component, including the development of new courses related to mass timber. The hire would be made in conjunction with a similar position in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture (APLA). Both Schools are located in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction (CADC) at Auburn University. Respective candidates would be expected to encourage collaboration between the design and construction disciplines within the CADC. This is a three-year appointment, continuation of which is contingent on securing external funding for research related to mass timber. As a public land-grant institution, Auburn University&#8217;s mission is based on instruction, research, and outreach that is engaged with the state&#39;s constituents and resources. More than 70% of the State of Alabama is forested, and the wood products industry figures prominently in the State&#39;s economy and cultural memory. Alabama is a national leader in the production and innovation of engineered wood products, including mass timber. To date, research efforts around mass timber have largely been the purview of the engineering and forestry disciplines; however, there is an imperative for applied research that demonstrates the deployment of this material system in the built environment. Candidates for this position would be expected to investigate new opportunities for the procurement, assembly, and project delivery methods related to mass timber and CLT to better understand and enhance its regional and global economic, ecological, and social benefits. The Robins &#38; Morton Construction Field Lab at the McWhorter School of Building Science will be used for teaching and research for both undergraduate and graduate students. The lab features a high-bay facility with overhead hoisting capacity, as well as a variety of equipment, storage, and classroom facilities, all of which could be utilized in the applied research of mass timber, CLT, and other prefabricated building components. The McWhorter School of Building Science offers bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in Building Construction. The school has a long-standing partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers to provide executive graduate education in construction management to professionals in the field. The School&#8217;s Center for Construction Innovation and Collaboration (CCIC) supports faculty research and serves as a liaison with industry. The School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture (APLA) is the counterpart school with which the tandem hire will be made; APLA has a 110-year history of educating professionals in the fields of architecture, interior architects, landscape architects, and environmental design. Collaborative opportunities for research between faculty and students in the schools are numerous and strongly encouraged. Minimum Qualifications &#8226; A graduate degree in building construction, construction management, architecture, engineering, or an allied field; or a relevant undergraduate degree in these disciplines and a graduate degree giving evidence of potential research productivity in a related field. &#8226; Experience in the design and/or construction of projects featuring mass timber and CLT &#8226; Evidence of the capacity and potential to develop a successful, externally funded research program in the field of mass timber and the secondary fields of building prefabrication and off-site construction relevant to the description above.
