 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
 As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in managing exciting and technically challenging projects. Responsibilities include planning field programs, conducting technical briefings with field staff, and project management tasks including budgeting and client communications. You will also be responsible for performing engineering analyses and preparing technical reports, as well as conducting regular site visits, overseeing field explorations and construction observations. As a project manager, you will be responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of junior staff.

 BS degree in Civil Engineering required; MS degree in Geotechnical or Geological Engineering strongly preferred 
 Minimum 6 years of relevant experience required 
 Minimum 4 years of project management experience

 Must be able to engage in site visits which can include repetitious lifting of loads up to 40 pounds in weight and hiking over strenuous terrain in varying weather conditions

								<description>Topeka, Kansas,  Overview / Responsibilities* 
 Wood Environment &#38; Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Kansas Transportation Team Lead. We are looking for an individual who wants to advance their career by leading and expanding the capabilities of a growing Kansas transportation group. With a minimum of fifteen (15+) years of highway / roadway design and project management experience, you will lead team members to successfully complete construction documents for highway and roadway systems. Career minded professionals with self - confidence and a teachable spirit find themselves advancing quickly. As a Transportation Team Lead, you will play a key role in managing projects, expanding the capabilities of the team, and growing the business. The ideal candidate has strong relationships with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and other Kansas transportation agencies and has served as Project Manager on Kansas transportation projects. 
 This individual can work out of either our Topeka or Wichita office depending on candidate preference. After initial onboarding, training, and integration, we are open to a flexible remote work schedule. This would be best if the individual lived within an hour&#8217;s drive of Topeka or Wichita and be able to travel as needed for business and client needs. 
 Key Responsibilities: 
 
 Participating in and managing transportation / roadway design projects, and managing the Kansas Transportation Team 
 Build up backlog by pursuing and winning work as prime and subconsultant 
 Manage Team members under the transportation umbrella 
 Maintain effective client relationships; leverage project experience to win work 
 Recognize and initiate business development opportunities 
 Lead and / or assist with the coordination, development and production of proposals, SOQs, and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output 
 Prepare and oversee preparation of the construction documents (Plans, Specifications, and Estimates) 
 Prepare and manage scopes, schedules, and budgets 
 Write reports and technical memos 
 Manage client communications, expectations, and satisfaction 
 Manage, advise, coach, and develop junior engineers 
 
 Skills / Qualifications 
 
 Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college / university 
 Kansas Professional Engineer (PE) License or able to obtain within six months of hire 
 15+ years as a Transportation / Roadway Engineer / Project Manager 
 Self - starter with strong oral and written communications skills 
 Detail oriented, proactive individual who takes ownership of their work 
 Proficiency in following software: 
 
 Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project 
 Inroads and MicroStation. Civl3D a plus 
 Experience with 3D modeling preferred 
 
 Candidates must be familiar with KDOT standards and procedures 
 Existing relationships with KDOT, Federal Lands, and Kansas Project Managers preferred 
 Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships 
 Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients 
 Availability to work outside normal business hours as required 
 Ability and willingness to travel to Project sites - Approximately 5% overnight travel 
 Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company&#39;s driving (MVR) policy
