 The PG&#38;E Geosciences Department is a group of engineers, geologists, geophysicists and seismologists providing a wide range of support for geologic hazard evaluation, seismic resiliency program development, geotechnical assessments, seismic risk assessment and management for all company business lines. Our goal is to support safe, reliable, and affordable energy delivery, regulatory compliance, and efficient business operations. 
 The Geosciences Department has responsibility of providing expert insights on geotechnical conditions and geohazards relevant to existing, potential modifications to, and proposed PG&#38;E facilities and infrastructure. This group is also chartered with continuing to develop state of the art analytical insights, tools, and assessments of new data and interpretation of existing data with emergent technologies in geosciences, geotechnical engineering, and seismic engineering.

 Position Summary 
 The Geosciences Department is looking for a talented civil engineer with geotechnical experience to assist with both programmatic and project geotechnical engineering work including field work activities.  Anticipated tasks may include but are not limited to: 
 
 Assist with field geohazard assessment and report preparation 
 Leverage available public and private programmatic resources to perform preliminary desktop site assessments for geotechnical conditions 
 Geotechnical instrument data entry, analysis, and interpretation 
 Interpretation of geospatial and topographic data (e.g. LiDAR data) 
 Geotechnical calculations (e.g. slope stability analysis, retaining wall analysis, shallow and deep foundation design)

 The selected engineer will have the opportunity to support activities as described above while working with a team of experienced Geo-professionals. Additionally, the engineer will gain exposure to geologic and geotechnical practice for a variety of utility infrastructure assets, such as pipelines, electric transmission towers, canals, penstocks, and dams. The vast PG&#38;E service territory and diversity of infrastructure assets provides the opportunity for challenging interdisciplinary work in many geomorphic terrains throughout the state of California.  The most competitive candidates will possess significant knowledge and experience in project management and construction management with a general understanding of the wastewater/water treatment process and experience working in operating facilities. This individual should have experience in leading cross-functional engineering disciplines, managing consultants, directing the work of other engineers, and preparing and delivering technical presentations. The candidate should also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate good interpersonal skills with a teamwork-based approach, and work independently with minimal supervision. 
 Specific job duties include: 
 
 Managing the project design phase by preparing and administering consultant contracts; developing scope, budget, and schedule; reviewing engineering calculations and technical memoranda; identifying and recommending alternatives; resolving key issues; preparing project feasibility studies and life-cycle cost analyses; identifying and mitigating project risks. 
 Managing the project construction phase by preparing and understanding construction contract documents (plans and specifications), understanding construction techniques, reviewing submittals and requests for information, negotiating change orders and claims, preparing cost estimates and project schedules, performing testing/training/startup activities, and managing the overall project budget, scope, and schedule. 
 
 The salary range is $10,455 per month increasing to $10,978, $11,527, $12,103, and $12,708 after 6, 18, 30, and 42 months, respectively.

 Office environment; field environment; construction site environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, heat, cold, and inclement weather conditions when conducting field inspections and investigations. 
 Physical Conditions: 
 Requires maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.</description>
