This is an exciting opportunity to support the build out of active transportation projects, in service to City policies, specifically Imagine Austin Comprehensive Plan, the Council Strategic Direction 2023 Mobility Outcome, the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan and the City’s Complete Streets and Vision Zero policies.      The ideal candidate has an in-depth understanding of local and national engineering best practices for bicycle, pedestrian, and transit priority design as well as experience with adapting these best practices in a retrofit environment to ensure the best possible outcome for all street users.  R esponsibilities  include:   Oversee the installation of a large number of street design projects that repurpose existing street space to provide for safer, more multimodal street operations.    Coordinate across multiple divisions, departments and agencies in the delivery of these projects.    Manage both contractors and city crews to install these projects quickly and effectively.   Supervise field staff in the implementation select projects of the Bikeways, Safe Routes to School, Transit Enhancement, and other multimodal capital delivery programs.   We are looking for the following:   An innovative leader with demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership, to “see the big picture” and to  engage with diverse stakeholders and leadership to promote trust, collaboration, and partnership.   A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.    Ability to use an equity lens and framework to foster inclusive and equitable projects.    Knowledge of data on racial disparities within local, state, and national context and the impacts that historic and contemporary transportation investments have had to establish and exacerbate those disparities.   Knowledge of transportation planning and traffic engineering practices, principles, modeling tools and cost estimates.   Excellent team working and problem-solving skills with internal and external members to accomplish organizational goals.   Excellent written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including meetings and public events.     To apply and be considered for this position, complete the on-line application and attached a resume and cover letter at  www.austincityjobs.org .    F ind the posting at this   link:   https://www.austincityjobs.org/postings/88738 .     Application deadline is  May 23, 2021   Sat, 08 May 2021 17:44:57 -0400
